The Origin Scroll

Like any good quest, it started with a decorating crisis.

We were building the ultimate game room—graffiti-tagged walls, weathered tin ceilings, five full bookshelves stuffed with GM manuals, half-painted minis, replica armor and a foot-high statue of Cthulhu ready to appear any time players got sassy with the DM. But when it came to finding a rug? Crit fail.

We found some cool-looking prospects online, but they were thinner than a character sheet and got absolutely bodied by Mtn Dew, incense trails, face-down pizza and the occasional panic-pooping pet during a nat 1 meltdown. The sturdier rugs out there were built to last, but they were thousands of dollars and so...beige.

As artists and textile designers, we weren’t about to let the floor be our weakest stat. Rugs aren’t just background décor—they’re the anchor, the mood-setter, the unsung MVP of any great space. So we designed one that held its own against the chaos of our space and looked great doing it.

Soon a friend wanted one. Then another. And before we knew it, Area of Effect Rugs rolled initiative.

OUR QUEST

At Area of Effect Rugs, we’re here for the gamers, the dreamers, the misfits and the memory-makers. Whether you’re building a man cave, a book nook, a loot-filled lounge or just trying to inject a little magic into your everyday space, we’re honored to be part of it.

Our mission is simple: forge epic rugs that withstand high traffic, critical spills, pet and kid chaos and the occasional nacho-related disaster. Each rug blends artistry and durability to bring style and story to your domain—whatever form it takes.
